The Treasure Valley Down Syndrome Association is made up of parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, friends, and volunteers who share one commonality – love for someone with Down syndrome. Where other people see differences, we see joy, kindness, and wisdom. We see a person who has blessed us by being in our lives.
We seek to provide reassurance to new parents about tomorrow, to help celebrate today, and to teach and inspire – all while learning more about ourselves. We also work to create awareness around Down syndrome, so the whole community will accept and recognize the greatness we see in our loved ones.
To enhance the quality of life for persons with Down syndrome by promoting inclusive environments as well as advocating respect, dignity, and appropriate supports for people with Down syndrome to ensure that the world sees them as we do – Equal.
A world where full inclusion is a reality rather than a goal.
TVDSA was founded in the early 1980s by Billie Paetel. With the help of other parents who had children with Down syndrome, their goal was to provide support and information, especially to new parents. We are managed by a volunteer board of directors that is guided by our members. We are funded by community support, grants, and our annual events.
